Cool Hunting

The opening reception for the White Walls Gallery show "Untitled" starts tonight. The group show features artists: Caleb Neelon, Sylvia Ji, Ogi, Sage Vaughn, and Anthony Yankovic III. If you don't live in SF, poo for you. These artists are all amazing and just from looking at their portfolios I can tell this show is gonna kick ass. I already know that Ogi's got talent and I'm excited to see what new work he'll be showing. I'm also really interested in checking out Sylvia Ji's work. Her depiction of women give off a sense of power to rival that of any man. If you're in the Bay Area, you should come check out the show. It runs from December 8th to January 10th. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
When & Where: Opening reception is on December 8th from 7pm to 11pm. The show runs from December 8th to January 10th. 835 Larkin St. San Francisco, CA 94109

"Graffiti is not vandalism, but a beautiful crime," is one of the philosophical pillars that this guerilla gallery operates on. Now that we seem to have stopped arguing whether graffiti is art, we can start to enjoy some of the fine stuff collected by the folks at Beautiful Crime. The current exhibition by San Francisco artist Pure Evil chronicles how a tale of giant...
AfterModern, a new gallery in San Francisco's up-and-coming South Park neighborhood (conveniently nearby the SFMOMA) launched with an inaugural exhibition last Saturday called "Out of Doors." Curated by Busy Being founder Amber Abramson, 27, who formerly headed up Los Angeles gallery and store, four x four, the show takes the outdoors as its theme. A line-up of mostly California-based artists, such as HunterGatherer, Deanne...
by Ariston Anderson As more and more art galleries regrettably shut their doors for good around Chelsea, one perk we've seen out of the recession is the increasing number of salons popping up around town. The current climate has left many artists feeling isolated, and one organization, ABCyz aims to bring together New York's collective creative juices into one whirlwind of a show, creating community...
by Laura Neilson In the spirit of community, art, and food, Slideluck Potshow is exactly what it (sort of) sounds like, a potluck slideshow. Anyone can attend the events, however guests are asked to bring contributions in the form of food, drink and imagery. Photographers of all subject matters and experience levels are encouraged to submit their work for the entertainment portion of the evening....
Now that the hoody's been elevated to avant-couture, it follows that there's an exhibition devoted to the ubiquitous item of clothing. Featuring works by local Bay Area designers, such as Nicacelly (pictured), Uhu Clothing and Like Minded People, The Hoody Gallery is a group show of limited-edition hoodies that have been silkscreened, re-invented and otherwise tricked-out. The one-night event also features a line-up of...
