Bösendorfer VC7 and AC7 Loudspeakers by Evan Orensten

bosendorfer7series.jpg

Legendary Austrian piano maker Bösendorfer has been making loudspeakers for about four years now. They take an interesting perspective on loudspeaker design, focusing on creating resonance—exactly what most high end speaker designers try to avoid.

The speakers are flanked by two accoustic sound boards, which bounce the sound around to create those good vibrations. These towers of power include two treble speakers, four bass drivers/mid-range speakers and are available in a variety of hardwood or lacquered finishes. Need some love for your AV set-up? Just add the Center and Wall speakers and you are good to go.

Fiona Thomson Lights and Speaker
Fiona Thomson revisits iconic 19th century forms, adding a modern twist by using simple technologies to create and adapt products for the 21st century. Recently unveiled at the New Designers event in London, each of her works cleverly transforms what were purely ornamental objects into functional and useful objects. One such standout example is Thomson's take on the traditional candelabra. She modernizes the romantic...
Conscious Forms Egg Acoustic Speaker
The Conscious Forms collection by Junior Phipps shows this British designer having fun at the intersection of form and function. Each of his light and speaker designs take on tactile and curvaceous forms, but these shapes also help them to function in flexible ways. Take the Egg Acoustic for example, which looks more like a Brancusi sculpture than a speaker. It's made from layers...
M's System MS0801 Speaker
Housing a speaker on either end, the MS0801 is a single vibrational speaker that has the capability to fill a room in stereo. (You can get a pair if you want surround sound.) Made from wood, the cylindrical shape also enhances acoustics. No matter how loud I turned up the volume, the bass never distorted and always sounded clean without dominating the spectrum. In...
Woofer
Though I'm not sure what the sound quality is like, this Woofer is brilliant sculptural double entendre none-the-less. Created by Buro Vormkrijgers, a Dutch design studio founded by Sander Mulder and Dave Keune, the headless dog speaker system is available as a single woofer or a pair of stereo speakers. The team is also planning to follow-up with Tweeter, a bird-like desktop speaker system....
