Cool Hunting

Absurd, mythological-looking hybrid creatures made from mixed and matched animal parts show up frequently in the history of art and literature, but what about inventing a new critter out of actual roadkill? As part of his Bible Rewrite Project, New York-based Nate Hill has become an amateur taxidermist, sewing up found paws, tails, heads, and other body parts into his own configurations. Hill's revisionist undertaking is about "distorting the Bible and seeing it in [his] own image and obsession," which for him involves people taking an active role (namely, a needle and thread) in creating animals. Though it may appear to be the demented work of a megalomaniac (not to mention plain creepy), Hill's not without a sense of humor (there's a section called "God Games" on the site) and as he puts it, "more interesting to me is what happens if I fail?
