Fortunately Ungkun Chanasvangwonk's new shop is a lot easier to pronounce than his name. His Establishment is the latest addition to Manhattan's Meat Packing District.

Most of the items in the store are designed by Ungkun and made in his native Thailand, where he has found local artisans who excel in woodworking, sculpture, pottery and fabric design. His products reflect his passion for traditional Thai designs expressed with a modern sensibility.

The result produces beautiful bowls and tables made from amboyna, a burled wood from Laos. Pillows are made from colorful silks, lamps are carved from stone, and pewter is cast in coral forms to produce ethereal bowls. These all find a home in a beautifully renovated space that allows the products to shine.
